About MeHi, I'm Tom Music. I like using new technology to solve old problems. I like finding ways to get people collaborating to create great things. And I like you. Click on the items below for some information on how I spend my spare time. Web / Software DevelopmentI'm an expert in Visual Basic, PHP, HTML, and CSS. I'm pretty good at JavaScript, and Objective-C 2.0 (for iPhone development). Launched Web Projectshaikoo.orgHaiku, as most often practiced in English-speaking circles, is a form of poetry in which each poem consists of only three lines. Three short lines of five, seven, and then five syllables. On Haikoo.org, however, things operate a little differently. Instead of having a single author, each poem has three contributors. One user starts the haiku by giving it a title and a first line. A second user will add a second line (minutes, hours, or days later). A third user will write the final line in the same fashion, finishing the poem. Collaborative haiku is a fun way to exercise creativity without committing to writing an entire poem. 575 AliveThis is an application written for the Facebook platform that connects collaborative haiku with the social web. The availability on Facebook, where people already interact with their friends, has shown more sustained user growth than with Haikoo.org. SurveyShoutI built this over a weekend when I was asked why I didn't ever fill out the text surveys that get passed around on sites like MySpace and Hi5. It felt like there was a better way to take a survey than by having to highlight and delete the previous responder's answers. It turns out that I was right. There are lots of other sites in this market, but mine is the only one that has a megaphone in the logo. Clearly it is a superior product. |
